New Jobs on the Block returns next week for Job Seekers

Advance Wisconsin Employment will again host a unique job fair on the 400 Block in downtown Wausau. The New Jobs on the Block event returns for a third time this year and will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Thursday, September 17. Those seeking employment will have a chance to learn about available local positions with more than 50 businesses at the event.

"A strong workforce is essential to the success of our businesses and the continued growth of Central Wisconsin," said Jim Waldron, President of Wausau Tile and President of the Central Wisconsin Manufacturing Alliance Board of Directors. "New Jobs on the Block provides a valuable opportunity for job seekers to connect directly with local employers, learn about rewarding career paths, and discover the wide range of opportunities available right here in our region. Events like this help strengthen our talent pipeline while supporting the long-term success of our community."

The New Jobs on the Block program aims to engage downtown businesses and larger employers, focusing on both workforce development and increasing business visibility. Any local businesses that are hiring full-time, part-time or seasonal employees were invited to participate. Many of the participating businesses will offer interactive activities, giveaways and on-the-spot interviews at the event.

The Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development will also have its mobile careers lab on hand and the Wausau Fire Department will be conducting a signing event to recognize nine individuals who are enrolling in their new apprenticeship program. The time for this signing event has not been finalized.

Advance Wisconsin Employment is partnering with the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development, Forward Service Corporation, CW Solutions, the Greater Wausau Chamber of Commerce, Northcentral Technical College, the Wisconsin Automotive & Truck Education Association, the Central Wisconsin Manufacturing Alliance and the Wausau River District for the event. The event sponsor is Hy-Vee Inc. Sunrise Communications and WAOW/WYOW Television Inc are the media sponsors for the event.
