On the Powerhouse:

Discover the rich history and exciting future of the Wausau Dam and East Hydro Plant Power House in this guided drone tour through Wausau, Wisconsin. Once a hub for hydroelectric power and streetcar energy in the early 1900s, the historic powerhouse building—vacant for over a decade—is now being revitalized by the Greater Wausau Chamber of Commerce. Learn how this century-old structure is being transformed into a modern coworking and event space for entrepreneurs and businesses, showcasing how post-industrial America is reimagining its riverfront landmarks. Watch now to explore Wausau’s past, present, and future in this unique look at historic preservation and community innovation.

On the depot:

Join us on a nostalgic journey through Wausau, Wisconsin, as we explore the rich history of the Chicago and Northwestern Train Depot — a symbol of the city’s industrial past and its ongoing revitalization. Wausau was once a vital crossroad of the Wisconsin River and the expanding railroad system in the 1800s. In this video, we dive into how Wausau grew from a booming white pine lumber town powered by Big Bull Falls, to a modern regional hub.
Discover how the 1899 train depot played a crucial role in transporting lumber and passengers, before it transformed into a bus station, a Chinese restaurant, and now the home of the Greater Wausau Chamber of Commerce. Watch as we tour the beautifully renovated historic building, brought back to life by Ghidorzi Construction.
You’ll see:
• Original exposed brick and timber beams
• The preserved ticket window
• A unique bar made from “million mile wood” (reclaimed boxcar flooring)
• Spaces dedicated to modern business development and community engagement
