Introducing the Talent Ecosystem

The Greater Wausau Chamber of Commerce provides many programs contributing to our region’s talent ecosystem. But in recent years, there has been a common occurrence that community patrons are not aware of all the opportunities offered. Within a region’s talent ecosystem, the essential attribute is awareness, from students knowing what businesses operate within their area to companies knowing where their talent comes from.

To improve the awareness of our region, our businesses, and educational institutions, the Greater Wausau Chamber of Commerce is introducing an Education and Industry Connection tool. This tool integrates standards issued by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction, industry-leading labor market data provided by Lightcast, and the member investors of the Greater Wausau Chamber of Commerce. By providing this exclusive tool, the chamber hopes to:

  • Educate: The primary purpose of this tool is to educate our businesses and talent on the opportunities available in the industry. But also, to modify a long-time perception of Wausau’s business opportunities and provide a spark in our membership’s talent search. By educating our users, we hope they can make decisions that lead to long-term success.
  • Identify and Inform: Wausau is a statewide and nationally recognized area for many of our industries, and our community has no idea. These areas need to be celebrated and spread the word to our next generation of talent to maintain those industry powerhouses.
  • Foster Relationships: This resource contains contact information for our member businesses and educational partners. The mission of providing this contract is to foster relationships between our companies and educators, and future talent. Many communities are running mass marketing campaigns to try and retain talent, but those campaigns will be beaten out every time by relationships that are built and create organic retention.
  • Time Maximization: This resource is entering a very saturated space regarding resources that educators use with their students. All these resources lack one thing, business buy-in. The major downfall with most of these resources is that they lack industry buy-in and require their most valuable resource, time. This tool limits the time obligations of businesses and educational partners by providing the contact information and data they desire within multiple clicks.

We hope that the information contained within this resource will help bridge the gap between our educational institutions and local businesses while creating an awareness of this region’s potential and continue moving this community forward.
