Wisconsin Woodchucks hosts ribbon cutting and open house
WAUSAU — Wisconsin Woodchucks Baseball held a ribbon cutting ceremony and open house on Wednesday, December 6. This celebration marked a new location for the team’s offices at 2401 North Third Street.
The Wisconsin Woodchucks are one of the original Northwoods League teams and will celebrate their 25th season in Wausau this summer. Twenty former Woodchucks have gone on to play Major League Baseball, with Ben Zobrist of the Chicago Cubs, a 2003 Woodchuck and 2016 World Series MVP, perhaps being the most well-known player.
The Woodchucks are owned by Mark Macdonald, who has invested more than $7 million into Athletic Park and the surrounding area. The organization has also raised more than $19,000 for local causes this year.
The Woodchucks employ five full-time staff members and many summer interns and part-time summer employees.
