COMMUNITY JOINS TOGETHER TO FEED LOCAL FAMILIES THIS HOLIDAY SEASON
The Christmas spirit is alive in the greater Wausau area! Peyton’s Promise advocates, local businesses and volunteers have been busy stocking the shelves of local food pantries. For November and December, AbbyBank pledged to match a total of $2,000 in donations to Peyton’s Promise. On December 15th, AbbyBank presented a check with a grand total of $20,432.47 for the total money raised with the AbbyBank matching meals program and the Elves Stocking the Shelves event. This program provided holiday meals to over 30 local food pantries and organizations.
“Gratitude does not even begin to describe how our family feels. One amazing community and several compassionate businesses, like AbbyBank and Axis Insurance, believed in an eight year old’s spirit and idea to Make the World a Better Place. Over one hundred Advocates and a very dedicated Executive Board joined forces and had faith that they could also make a difference. This year we shattered all records in food and monetary donations. Peyton’s Promise supported 32 Marathon County Pantries/ Backpack Programs and successfully assisted in opening several new school and community pantries. This would not be possible without the giving spirit of a big-hearted community. Thank you for every can and dollar donated, it truly has made an impact in the fight against hunger.” States Teena Medick- Peyton's Promise Executive Director.
