Amid all of the COVID-19 concerns, our leadership has made the decision to cancel the Future in Focus event. We are planning to reschedule at some point in the near future, but we will need to continue to monitor the situation, so we do not have a new date at this time.
If you pre-registered, all registrations, along with attendee names will be transferred to the rescheduled date (and you can update them if you need to at that time). Noah Williams, Director
University of Wisconsin-Madison's Center for Research On the Wisconsin Economy
Williams is the Founding Director of the Center for Research On the Wisconsin Economy (CROWE) and Juli Plant Grainger Professor of Economics at UW-Madison, where he has been on faculty since 2008. A native of Menomonie, Wisconsin, he was previously on faculty at Princeton University. His research focuses on macroeconomics, particularly monetary policy, social insurance programs and financial markets. He has published widely, and co-authored several papers with Nobel Prize recipients Lars Peter Hansen and Thomas Sargent. A PhD and BA graduate of the University of Chicago, he is a consultant to the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, and a member of the Economic Advisors Roundtable organized by the WMC and WEDC. His research on state economics, which underlies the work of CROWE, has been supported by a grant from the National Science Foundation.
Ted Abernathy, Managing Partner
Economic Leadership LLC
Abernathy has 37 years of experience in directing local and regional economic development and workforce development programs. Economic Leadership LLC, is a small group of data and policy nerds that is currently working with a diverse group of public and private clients to develop state and local strategic action agendas, identify best practices, apply data analytics and reimagine the future. Over the past five years Abernathy has worked on close to 100 projects including designing an innovation ecosystem for a new science city in Kenya, producing an annual Home of Future Thinking conference, and creating a new company that assesses and improves group leadership. Born in Dallas, NC, Abernathy received his bachelor's degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hillm his master's from Johns Hopkins University, is a graduate of the Economic Development Institute and is an Eisenhower Fellow for global economics.
Jim McIntyre, CEO
McIntyre is the CEO of Greenheck and Chairperson of the Greater Wausau Prosperity Partnership (GWPP).
