Critical Thinking, Problem Solving and Decision Making - UWSP Leadership Certificate Program
Become more intentional and confident in your decision making. Learn how to recognize different kinds of problems and how to apply a decision-making model to respond to these problems effectively. Before the session, you will be invited to articulate an actual or hypothetical problem that you will explore in the workshop.
In this workshop, you will learn:
- how to distinguish between different kinds of problems
- how to make the best use of your two distinct cognitive systems as you approach problems
- how to apply a decision-making procedure to enhance the quality of your responses to problems.
Lyna Matesi, Ph.D. teaches management and leadership at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. Her passion is helping leaders and leadership teams maximize their capacity for success. She has served in leadership development, change management and curriculum development roles at U.S. Cellular and business planning, communication technology, and project management roles at Motorola.
Dona Warren, Ph.D., received her undergraduate degree in mathematics from Minnesota State University Moorhead, and her Ph.D. in philosophy from the University of Minnesota. She has a special passion for issues surrounding the teaching of critical thinking and symbolic logic.
